I wanted to pop in real fast to share some new resources that I created over the summer for reading and am now creating for math. I don't know about your kids, but my kids LOVE choice! Even if it is all still the same kind of work and still the same skill, just something about being able to choose is so awesome to them.
With that in mind, I created reading choice boards.
I created a "mini" choice board for each common core reading literature and reading informational standard. Here is a close up:
The choice boards are two to a page and have a total of 8 tasks that are directly aligned to the standard! The best part? All the kids need are the books in your library (and maybe a science or social studies textbook). These choice boards have tasks that really get the kids thinking about what they are reading. And it has them practicing the common core standard, too. Can't beat that!
I have also included a plain black and white option as well. This way the kids can color or shade in each task as they complete it. There are so many different ways you can use these! Here are a few ideas:
- Weekly Homework
- Independent Reading Tasks
- Morning Work
- Daily 5 Center
- RTI Reading
- And So Much More!
I have the reading choice boards available for 4th and 5th grade and you can find them by click here.
And since I cannot forget about Math, I started making math choice boards, too! These are taking a little longer than the reading ones did since there are so many more math standards. Here are some examples from my 5th grade Number and Operations set.
I have Number and Operations: Base Ten for 4th and 5th Grade finished and Operations and Algebraic Thinking for 5th Grade, also. Click here to check them out!
And finally, I gave this little guy a much needed face lift! I updated the fonts and added a cute border. If you have this already, re-download it to get the new version! Just click on the image below.
Whew, I have been busy! Thanks for letting me share!
